GET CLOSER! Unlike many other animal
sanctuaries, Black Pine Animal Park is open
to the public. We welcome
thousands of visitors each year, including individuals, Black Pine does not seek out animals for the enjoyment of our visitors. We do not offer playgrounds, million-dollar exhibits, extensive concessions, or acres of gardens. Rather, our focus is on providing excellent care to animals we have rescued from private owners or taken in after a life of performing. Our mission is to educate the public about why animals need refuge, which we accomplish by allowing you to visit some who found such refuge. We do not allow running, taunting, teasing, or other such behavior so that the animals are sure to be comfortable, content, and curious.
The park relocated to an all new 18-acre site in December 2006. Public tours of the new facility resumed on May 26, 2007, though construction will continue indefinitely. Black Pine's new facility offers:
To make the most of your visit, please consider the following options and our recommendations... We encourage you to visit during the summer season when general admission is available daily. General admission enables you to come and go from the park all day (hours vary) for one low price and includes a self-guided tour (map provided) and/or a staff-guided tour. Staff-guided tours, at no additional charge, are offered during the summer season when the park is open daily, and by appointment during the off-season. These optional tours are recommended for first-time visitors, and also for those age nine or older (though younger children are welcome, too, when appropriately supervised by an adult). Additional tour options are available when general admission is not offered. Prices and tour options vary. Black Pine also hosts school field trips and other groups! We will alter our tours to fit your group's needs. Please call for assistance (260) 636-7383.
If you're looking for the best value, consider a Park Pal Membership, and make the most of your contributing dollars! Our memberships pay for themselves in as little as two visits per year! We hope you enjoy your visit! Don't miss our Upcoming Events! |
